"Realizing Your Beauty" Campaign

The "Realizing Your Beauty" campaign was inspired by a young lady name Sydney(her story/letter down below). She sent an email one day to my  askcrys@gmail.com account, where natural ladies can reach me to ask, and discuss personal questions about thier healthy hair journey.  Sydney's letter stood out to me especially, because it wasn't that long ago I was in highschool, and was concerned about being accepted.

Highschool, is an amazing learning experience, but it can also be a very trying time, in a young ladies life.  Sydney recently did her big chop, and was concern about how her natural hair will play a role in her life, and she wanted to enter the new school year with confidence.  She contacted myself for inspiration, but ended up inspiring me.

The "Realizing Your Beauty Campaign, is inspired by Sydney, but not just for her. There are so many individuals who suffer with lack of confidence, depression, or scared of being bullied or not accepted for thier differences. I know I have experienced that uncomfortable stage in my life, on countless occasions.  I feel the natural hair movement, is a way for women of all backgrounds, to come together and uplift each other, on a unique, beautiful differnece, that use to be frowned upon years ago.

This movement began, for women who suffer with embracing thier natural beauy, but I hope for this message to grown and develope, to inspire anyone who struggles with embracing themselves, to be able to realize thier beauty.

Hi Crystal! So first off I just want to say I love your channel, and you are one of the many You-tubers I look up to that makes me love my natural hair journey. =)I'm sorta having a hard decision to make with my natural hair. You see, I've been wearing crochet braids as a protective style for the past several months because when I was transitioning it was becoming to hard to handle and I needed to give my hair a rest.

I've gotten a lot of new hair growth and my mom big chopped after eight months of transitioning right before she installed the the new crochet braids  It's sad though because I didn't get to see my hair when she big chopped after because she braided it up right after. Now I only have her description and a vision of what it looks like. "Thick." -_-

Okay, so the real problem. Lol. I'm debating on if I should take the crochet braids out before I start sophomore year in high school and just where my own hair but as being a teen, I care of what other people think a little and I feel like I will get a lot of stares. It doesn't help that go to a predominately white school. I've already changed my hair a lot freshman year from relaxed to marley twist to curly big hair (crochet braids).

I really just don't feel like being judged but I think a little twa will be cute. Since i did so many different hairstyles freshman year i feel like another one will just be too much. I just wanna how I can build up the confidence and self esteem to not care and where my natural short hair If I want. Thanks :)
